{19} In 1569, a long-cherished dream of the Poles was fulfilled: Unification
The last Polish king of the Jagiellonian lineage, Sigismund II Augustus, finally united the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Russia with Poland in this year.
This happened in the Lublin Sejm. The creation a single, inseparable state, called Rzeczpospolita, was announced there. In this land Kiev, Volyn, and Podolia were separated from Lithuania and adjoined to Poland.
The Union of Lublin was a Polish triumph, at least for the time being, but also brought Polish domination to a wider area
